Belton, Tx. – The SBU beach volleyball team finished their trip to Texas Friday afternoon defeating Huntingdon College 3-2, moving to 5-8 on the season.
It was the early matches and lower pairs that controlled the match for the Bearcats.
Madison Satterly and
Logan Drennan at the #5 spot dominated their opponents in two sets (21-8, 21-17). The #3 and #4 spots were tightly contested, each going to three sets. At the #4 spot,
Rory Stanley and
Kynzie Lilly dominated the first set 21-8, then fought back after falling in the second set winning the third 15-4.
Addi Fanning and
Ryan Russell won the first set 21-17 and lost the second 18-21 at the #3 spot. Then narrowly clinched victory for Southwest Baptist with a 15-13 win in the third. Both the #1 spot, consisting of
Chandler Lawrence and
Reagan Hoerning, and the #2 spot,
Carlee Lill and
Lexie Schauffler fell in two sets.
The Bearcats will ride this two-game win streak heading into Monday to take on University of Nebraska. This game will take place in Omaha, Nebraska at 10:00am.
