SBU Wraps Up Series Against Bulldogs in Tight Loss

Kirksville, MO - The SBU baseball team concluded their road series against the Truman State Bulldogs with a close 4-6 defeat on Sunday afternoon. They are now 12-18 (5-7 GLVC) for the season.

SBU jumped out to an early 3-0 in the top of the 1st that started with a run by Dominic Tellez thanks to an error by the Bulldog defense. Following that, Marcos Franjul hit in Zeke Skinner and then Lane Snow scored on a wild pitch. Truman State scored two in the 3rd inning and one in the bottom of the 6th to tie things up heading into the 7th. Xie Ferguson came up big with an RBI single that scored Skinner, regaining the lead for the Bearcats. Truman State however tied it up in the bottom half and added two more runs in the 8th to seal the victory.

Jaden Thacker started on the mound for the Bearcats, pitching just over two innings before Colin Whited, Ethan Clark, and Cade Langford used a committee approach to keep the Bulldogs at bay. Sam Peterson finished out the game and received the loss.

SBU will look to respond next weekend at home against Lincoln University, opening up with an evening game on Friday, April 4th at 5 PM.
