Rolla, MO – The Men's Track and Field team began outdoor season competing this weekend in the Miner Invitational, hosted by Missouri S&T University.
Sophomore Jayce Farrell highlighted the day, competing in the discus throw, breaking a school record. His mark of 51.20 meters was good enough for third place at the event.. Farrell achieved his mark on his fifth attempt, outdistancing 35 of 38 total throwers. The throw was a personal best for Farrell and hit a National qualifying mark, the first of his career. Another Bearcat to hit a National mark was Parker Love in the 400-meter dash. His time of 47.26 is a personal best and 2nd best in SBU history.
This weekend, the Bearcats also claimed other podium positions. Nolan Hansen won 1st place in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase. Also winning 1st place were Marcus Jones, Parker Love, Makaylin Forbes, & Reid Harrison in the men's 4x400-meter relay. Harrison also won second place with Jordan Noel, Chase Thomas-Plummer, & Dalvin Adams in the men's 4x100-meter relay. Also claiming a second-place victory was Ellis Joslin in men's pole vault.
The Bearcats showed promise with numerous incredible marks at the first outdoor meet of the season. They will look to continue that at home next week for the Bearcat Invitational from March 27th-29th.
