The game started off with a boom by both teams combining for nine runs in the first inning, six belonging to the Bearcats. SBU's first runs came off the bat of Tre Mungin hitting a grand slam, setting the pace for the rest of the game. Cole Reece and Caden Shaver went on to cross the plate later in the inning giving SBU a 6-3 lead early. The cardinals battled back, taking the lead in the 4th 6-7. In that same inning Mungin, recording a triple scoring Mel Mulholland, putting Mungin just a double away from the cycle. Two more lead changes and ties had the Bearcats trailing 9-12 heading into the bottom of the 8th. The fire continued into the second game where the Bearcats had the lead for the entire game. This started with an RBI from Zeke Skinner in the first knocking in Dominic Tellez. The defense showed up, holding off all runs for the first three innings. In the 3rd inning with bases loaded R. Ruderman doubled to left center allowing Raydley Legito, Mungin and Skinner to run, putting SBU up five. The Cardinals didn't give up scoring three unanswered runs making it a two-run game.
