Bearcats Fall Just Short Against #23 Ranked Panthers

Box Score Springfield, Mo. – SBU's Men's Tennis continued their season with their third match against the #23 ranked Drury Panthers. The match was tightly contested, but ultimately the Bearcats' efforts were not enough as they lost 3-4. The loss brings SBU to a record of 1-2 on the season.

The Panthers swept the Bearcats in the doubles matches. In the #1 spot, Juan Ignacio Morresi and Marcio Silva teamed up but could not overcome their opponents, 3-6. In the #2 spot, Alejandro Bravo Diaz and Bojan Radoman fell to their opponents 4-6. Alejandro Beneyto Sanchez and Federico Ivan Riolo were the closest of the Bearcats to winning their doubles match. However, they lost a tight matchup by a score of 6-7.

The Bearcats fared better in the singles matches. Beneyto Sanchez in the #2 spot (6-4, 6-1), Bravo Diaz in the #5 spot (6-2, 5-7, 6-3), and Riolo in the #6 spot (6-1, 6-2) all picked up singles wins for SBU. Despite only being one point away from the win, the team fell in the other singles matches. Silva in the #1 spot (4-6, 2-6) and Morresi in the #3 spot (4-6, 5-7) both came up short in their matches. The match in the #4 spot, played by SBU's Radoman came down to a third set. Despite Radoman winning the first set 6-4, he could not seal the victory and lost the final two sets 4-6 and 1-6.

The Bearcats' next action in men's tennis comes on Friday, February 14 in Kearney, Nebraska where they will play a double header against Metropolitan State University of Denver and University of Nebraska at Kearney.
