Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU baseball team continued their season Friday falling to the Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers in a doubleheader moving them to 4-7 on the season.
Game 1: Loss, 8-16
The Bearcats got off to a hot start with four RBI's from
Zeke Skinner, including a three run blast. Heading into the 3
rd SBU led 5-0, before the Rangers put up seven in the top of the inning. Bearcats answered back in the fourth with another run, before Parkside went on an 11-2 run to put the game away.
Skinner led the team in RBI's with five off of three hits. For the second game in a row, he recorded 75% of the cycle, hitting a homerun, triple, and single in this game.
Lane Snow went 4 of 5 from recording one RBI for another strong outing. Six Bearcats took the mound in the game with
Ethan Clark recording the loss.
Game 2: Loss, 8-14
In the second game of the day, Southwest Baptist started off in a similar fashion scoring five runs in the bottom half of the 1
st to take a 5-1 lead. For the second straight game, the Rangers bounced back in the third tying the score up at five. Later in that same inning
Dominic Tellez hit a blooper to right field scoring to runners putting SBU back in the lead. That lead held until the 5
th when Parkside scored five runs to go back in front. The Bearcats were unable to bounce back from that run, falling to the Rangers.
Tellez matched his season total RBI's with three in the game to go along with his three hits.
Raydley Legito,
Marcos Franjul, and
Reese Ruderman all equaled each other with two hits, second to Tellez.
Ryan McClish started on the mound pitching for two innings throwing three strikeouts until
Nash Crosby took over with a tied 5-5 ball game. Two innings later,
Jake Fuller, coming off a strong outing, returned to the mound only allowing one run in his two innings pitched.
Sam Peterson finished the game out in the 7
th.
The Bearcats will finish their series against Parkside Saturday afternoon at Dodson Field in a doubleheader. First pitch for game number will is schedule to beget at 12:00pm.
