Box Score Lebanon, Il. – The Men's Tennis team beat McKendree to achieve a 3-0 record this weekend. The 4-3 win over McKendree University improves SBU's record to 4-2 on the season.
SBU started out sweeping McKendree in the doubles matches. In the #1 spot,
Marcio Silva and
Juan Ignacio Morresi beat their opponents by a score of 6-4. The same score line was achieved by
Bojan Radoman and
Alejandro Bravo Diaz in the #2 spot in their victory over their opponents. In the #3 spot,
Federico Ivan Riolo and
Alejandro Beneyto Sanchez defeated their opponents by the convincing 6-3 score line.
Silva in the #1 spot (6-2, 6-2) and
Beneyto Sanchez in the #2 spot (6-1, 6-2) both started the singles matches with dominating wins for SBU. Silva had quite the weekend, going a perfect 3-0 in both doubles and singles matches, only dropping one set.
SBU's winning streak could not continue as they lost both the #3 and #5 spots in two sets.
Bravo Diaz battled hard in the #4 spot but ultimately fell just short in the third set (6-4, 1-6, 0-1). Prior to the finishing of those matches
Riolo was able to win comfortably in two sets with scores of 6-2 and 6-3, sealing the win for SBU.
SBU's Men's Tennis team will go on a two week break before returning to competition on Monday, March 10 in Richardson, Texas where they will be taking on the Comets of UT Dallas.
