Box Score Springfield, Ill. - The Bearcats took on the Illinois-Springfield Prairie Stars Friday afternoon defeating them 4-3, bringing their season to 2-2. 
 
SBU secured a point by winning two of their doubles matches, with Leticia Luiz and Polina Paunova winning 6-4 at the #2 spot. Giselle Garcia and Maria Clara Zotti won by forfeit at the #3 spot, gaining a point for the Bearcats.
 
The Bearcats continued to go neck and neck throughout the singles matches. Paunova defeated her opponent at the #3 spot in both sets (7-6, 6-1). Clara Zotti won at the #6 spot by forfeit and added a point to the Bearcats total. It was Luiz who clinched the final point for SBU at the #4 spot winning it in the third set, securing their victory over Illinois-Springfield. 
      
The Bearcats will take to the courts once again on Saturday afternoon against Maryville University. The match will take place at 2:45 pm at the Vetta Sports Complex.
