Springfield, MO – SBU Women's Tennis defeated Evangel University 7-0 in a non-conference match Saturday afternoon. The Bearcats' victory places them at 1-0 to start the season.
In doubles action, SBU claimed their first team point with
Paula Ballesteros and
Defne Ursan winning the #1 spot 6-2.
Polina Paunova and
Leticia Luiz earned the #2 spot 6-1, and
Giselle Garcia and
Maria Clara Zotti secured the #3 spot 6-0.
The Bearcats swept in all six singles matches beginning with Ballesteros defeating her opponent in the #1 spot 6-2 and 6-0. Ursan, in similar fashion, earned the #2 spot point 6-2 and 6-0. Winning the #3 spot 6-2 and 6-1, Paunova claimed SBU their fourth and clinching point of the match. Luiz in the #4 spot controlled her opponent in both sets (6-0, 6-1) and handed the Bearcats their fifth point. The victories continued with Garcia in the #5 spot (6-0, 6-0) and Clara Zotti in the #6 spot (6-0, 6-1).

th to play Harding University at the Cooper Tennis Complex.
