Topeka, Kan. – The lady Bearcats concluded their weekend in Topeka, Kansas with a hard-fought game against the Northeastern State University Riverhawks. Despite leading the game by as much as 5, SBU ultimately fell 61-76. Southwest Baptist now has a record of 1-3 on the season.
The standout player for SBU was junior
Tinu Fakunle who led the team in scoring with 18 points, including four successful three-pointers. Fakunle also recorded five rebounds, two blocks, and an assist. Both Fakunle's performances this weekend was good enough to earn her a spot in the Washburn Classic all-tournament team. Junior
Carolina Crawford had a good game as well, putting up 13 points and making the most field goals of anyone in purple with six of her twelve field goal attempts successful. Crawford also led the team in rebounds with eight and added two steals to her statline.
The Lady Bearcats only have a couple days to rest before their next and final game before Thanksgiving on Tuesday, November 25 at 5:30pm from the Meyer Sports Center. SBU faces Hannibal-LaGrange University (1-5), a team the Bearcats have never lost against, and will be hoping to use the game to get back on track.
