Searcy, Ark. - The SBU men's basketball team returned to action Thursday evening to take on the Harding Bisons. A back-and-forth game ended in the Bisons favor as SBU fell 72-79 moving to 2-2 on the season.
To start the game, the Bearcats held the lead throughout the first eight minutes, putting the Bisons with as much as a six point deficit. Bisons then took the lead by as much as seven until it was reclaimed by Southwest Baptist under a minute left in the half. Trailing by three at half, the Bearcats starting out strong in the second going on a 9-0 run. The lead continued to change three more times before Harding went on one final run late to cap off the game.
Sophomore Barron Silsy had a career game scoring a personal high of 23 points with five three pointers. He shot 47% from the field with a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe, four rebounds, and two steals. Behind him in scoring was junior
Zac Reedus with 14 points, half of those coming from the free throw line.
The team as a whole out rebounded the Bisons 41-39 with every Bearcat who touched the floor recording at least one. Freshman
Leo Gayman saw his first minutes of his young career leading the team in rebounds with eight along with five points and two assists.
One more non-conference game stands between the Bearcats and start of GLVC play. This will be against Calvary college on Monday, November 24th at 7:00 p.m. in the Meyer Center.
