Bolivar, Mo. — Southwest Baptist University's swim teams travel to Liberty, Mo. Friday for their second meet of the season where the men face William Jewell College and Missouri S&T and the women face William Jewell.
SBU Swimming realized their hopes for a successful season start two weeks ago at the Sam Freas Invite with both the men's and women's teams placing fourth overall. SBU's performances at their inaugural meet, including 26 top eight finishes, 20 lifetime bests, and the first event win of SBU swimming history, boasted of the team's skill and preparation.
Following their tremendous success, SBU's swimmers head into their next meet with eagerness and anticipation. Although SBU will compete against more established teams, they come no less prepared. Many SBU swimmers boast times on par or faster than William Jewell and Missouri S&T's top swimmers.
Vincent Hagar's impressive 200 Yard Fly time (1:55.04) is over 19 seconds faster than times put forth by William Jewell's swimmers last week, and
Ian McCorkle's 200 Yard Freestyle time (1:42.30) is over two seconds faster than top swimmers from Missouri S&T and over 17 seconds faster than swimmers from William Jewell.
On the women's side,
Briley Larcom's time for the 50 Yard Freestyle (0:24.98) bested William Jewell swimmers' by over three seconds, and
Grace Simon's 200 Yard Freestyle time (2:02.95) bests William Jewell's by over 14 seconds.
With impressive times and tremendous success so far, SBU Swimming anticipates many top eight finishes and personal best times at tomorrow's meet.
