Kirksville, Mo. – The SBU women's volleyball team began their two-game road trip Friday evening as they battled Truman State University. The Bearcats fell to the Bulldogs in three sets, moving them to 8-15 (1-7 GLVC) on the season.
After struggling to get their hold in the first set, SBU battled in the second going on a 7-1 run late for a 25-24 lead. Despite that run, they weren't able to close out the set, with the Bulldogs ending on a 0-3 run. Set three saw numerous lead change but still went the way of Truman State.
Freshman Aubire Fellmeth and
Julia Marinesi led the team in kills with nine a piece, each hitting over .200.
Allie Hawk was their top assister recording 17 in the game with
Katie Pogue not far behind at 15. Freshman
Chloe Chafins notched a team high 21 digs in the game to reach over 300 on the season. She is 8
th in the GLVC with 3.83 digs per set.
Southwest Baptist will finish their long road trip Saturday against Upper Iowa University. This game will take place in Fayette with a start time of 3:00pm.
