Bolivar, Mo. — The Southwest Baptist University Men's Soccer team will look to finish the season strong as they prepare for their final two home matches of the year. The Bearcats return to the SBU Soccer Field after a hard-fought contest against No. 18 Rockhurst University last Friday, where they came up just short in a 1–0 battle with one of the top teams in Division II soccer.
SBU opens the final weekend of play on Thursday, October 31 at 1:30 p.m. against Drury University. The Panthers enter the match at 6–4–5 overall and 6–4–3 in GLVC play, coming off a major 1–0 upset win over No. 18 Rockhurst. Drury is led defensively by goalkeeper Camden Meyer, who was recently named the GLVC Defensive Player of the Week.
The Bearcats will then wrap up the regular season on Sunday, November 2 at 2:30 p.m., hosting Missouri S&T. The Miners hold a 9–3–3 record and are 7–3–2 in conference, having already secured a spot in the GLVC Tournament. Missouri S&T is led by forward Mike Banasik, who was named the GLVC Offensive Player of the Week.
SBU enters the final stretch with six wins on the season and aims to close out the year on a high note as they honor their seven seniors. A strong finish could push the Bearcats to a .500 record, a major step forward for the growing program under Head Coach
Steve Bushre.
