Bolivar, Mo. – After three weeks without competition to rest and prepare, the Bearcats will finally compete in the GLVC Championships on October 25.
 
The women's cross country team heads into the big race with high hopes. The Lady Bearcats were picked to finish second in the GLVC women's cross country preseason poll, predicted only to finish behind the reigning GLVC champions, Lewis University. Sophomore Natalie Gerdes will look to make a big impact for SBU in the race being one of only two athletes to win two women's cross country GLVC Runner of the Week awards this season.
 
As for the men, they also go into the race hoping to do well after the preseason coaches' poll placed them finishing fifth. The men's team will be led by sophomore Landon Duchscherer, who was one of seven different runners to win the men's cross country GLVC Runner of the Week award this season.
 
The GLVC Championships will be hosted in Romeoville, Illinois at Lewis University this year. The women's 6,000-meter run will begin on Saturday, October 25 at 9:30am. The men's 8,000-meter run will follow an hour later at 10:30am.
