Bolivar, Mo. – The women's soccer team of Southwest Baptist University embarks upon the final stretch of their season after a weekend in which they suffered two hard-fought home losses.
 
The first loss came at the hands of Upper Iowa University by a score of 1-2 and was followed by a 0-2 loss to Quincy University, who is currently in first place in the GLVC. 
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Cece Alexander added seven saves this weekend to bring her season total to 74 saves over 12 games. Alexander's average of 6.17 saves per game places her 2nd in the GLVC's stat category and 15th across all NCAA Division II soccer programs. Senior Tamerra Gantt also impressed on the weekend by creating a multitude of scoring opportunities. Despite not scoring, she still sits 5th in the GLVC in goals scored this season with seven in total
 
Going into the Bearcats' final five games of the season, the team has four points which is nine points behind eighth place, the last position to qualify for the GLVC post-season tournament. Every game is vital if the Lady Bearcats want to climb above the playoff line, including their first match this weekend against Truman State University on Friday, October 17 at 2:30pm in Kirksville, Missouri. 
 
Truman is the team which currently occupies the eighth spot in the GLVC standings. The Bulldogs are 4-4-2 and most recently coming off a weekend where they finished with a 1-1 record. These two games included one in which they fell 0-3 to Rockhurst and another where they beat 3-1 the second team SBU faces this weekend: William Jewell. 
 
The Bearcats play the Cardinals on Sunday, October 19 at 12:00pm in Liberty, Missouri. William Jewell is only one point ahead of SBU in the GLVC standings and provides another winnable game for Southwest Baptist. The Lady Bearcats will look to take six points this weekend to spark a late playoff push.
