Bolivar, Mo- The SBU Athletics department is looking for a Media Relations Graduate Assistant for the 2025-26 school year. Full details about the position can be found below.

Job Description: Southwest Baptist University is an NCAA Division II program and a full-time member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Southwest Baptist University Athletics Media Relations Graduate Assistant will work alongside the SBU Director of Media Relations and assist the administrative team helping with various tasks. Weekend and night work is required.  
 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Serve as primary media relations contact for assigned sports (Sports – TBD)
• Write previews, recaps, and personal interest stories for sbubearcats.com
• Assist in the creation and management of all SBU athletics media i.e: graphic design, website maintenance, and social media
• Utilize social media platforms to enhance the reach of content and engagement
• Report directly to Director of Media Relations

 
Qualifications/Requirements: A bachelor's degree is required with the interest in pursuing a graduate level degree at Southwest Baptist University. Knowledge of sports and ability to work on weekends.
 
Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience in collegiate athletic communications in example: writing graphic design, video editing, or social media strategy.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and Adobe
• Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects with deadlines
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing

Compensation: The appointment carries tuition for 12 hours of graduate classes over two semesters plus a stipend of $7,500.00 over the academic year.
