Wichita, Kan. - The SBU Women's soccer team hit the road this Saturday afternoon to face Newman University for their second official game of the season. The back-and-forth match ended in a 2-2 tie, putting the Bearcats at 0-1-1 on the season.

Annabelle Shuler recorded the first Bearcat goal of the season, scoring in the upper left corner after a scramble in the box post-corner kick. Not long after, the Jets tied up the score 18 minutes into the first half. The Bearcats answered back in the second half after Junior
Sam Short sent a cross into the box, connecting with Junior
Tamerra Gantt as she headed the ball into the back of the net. The lead held for 15 minutes until Newman came back to tie it up 2-2, and the game remained scoreless after.Â

Abby Youngblood and
Kendal Weiskopf were the only three field players to play a full 90 minutes, both having significant contributions to the Bearcat's defense.Â

The Bearcats will return to action on Tuesday, September 10th as they host Northwest Missouri State University. The game will take place in Bolivar, Missouri at SBU Soccer Field with a kickoff scheduled for 2pm.
