Bolivar, Mo. – SBU Athletics begins their 2024 season this first week of September combining for a total of 10 competitions between six teams. The games will begin on Thursday September 5
th and conclude on Saturday September 7
th. Below is a list of all teams and their competitions for this week.
Women's Soccer:
SBU women's soccer kicks off their 2024 campaign as the first game of all Bearcat Athletics on Thursday, September 5
th. They will host NAIA Columbia College at the SBU soccer field with a 5:00pm kickoff. This will be the first ever meeting between these two programs. The Columbia Cougars are currently ranked 10
th in the Nation for NAIA.

The Bearcats will continue their non-conference journey on Saturday, September 7
th as they travel to Newman University. The game will take place at Wilkins Field in Wichita, Kansas with a scheduled kickoff of 4:00pm. This is the 3
rd match between these two programs since 2014, with the last match coming in 2019 resulting in a 0-0 tie.

Men 's Cross country:
Event: 2024 Bearcat Invitational, Friday September 6
th @ 5:30pm
Place: Bolivar City Municipal Golf Course; Bolivar, Missouri
The Bearcats are coming off a 6
th place finish at the GLVC Championships last year and were picked 5
th in the GLVC preseason poll. They return their top-2 runners in
Joe Kremp and
Trevor Maxville looking to build off their momentum from last season. SBU will compete against 11 other teams in the first race of the season.

Women's Cross Country:

Place: Bolivar City Municipal Golf Course; Bolivar, Missouri
After a 5
th straight top-3 performance at the 2023 GLVC Championship, the Bearcats were picked 2
nd in the GLVC preseason poll. Two of SBU's top 5 runners return for the 2024 campaign in
Olivia Littleton and
Kiersten Potter, who finished 29
th and 32
nd respectively.

Football:
SBU football begins their 2024 campaign on Saturday, September 7
th, as they travel to Black Hills State University to take on the Yellow Jackets. The game will take place in Spearfish, South Dakota with a scheduled start time of 1:00pm. This is the second game between these two programs, with SBU looking for their revenge after falling 33-39 at home last year.

Women's Volleyball:
The Bearcats begin their season competing at the Gorilla Classic in Pittsburg, Kansas at John Lance Arena. They will begin at 9am on Friday, September 6
th against Western Colorado, for their first ever meeting together. Later that day they will play Arkansas Tech at 4:30pm, SBU fell in this matchup two years ago 1-3.
On Saturday September 7
th, they will continue at the Gorilla Classic with an 11:30am match against Oklahoma Christian. SBU holds a 1-0 all-time lead over the Eagles with a 5-set win two years ago. Bearcat women's volleyball will finish their weekend against the host Pittsburg State at 7pm.

Men's Soccer:
Under the guidance of new head coach
Steve Bushre, the men's soccer team will begin their 2024 campaign against Newman University. This game will take place on Saturday, September 7
th at 1pm in Wichita, Kansas. Their only game of competition came nearly a year ago where both teams ended in a 1-1 tie.
