Bolivar, Mo. – After a busy and exciting month of September all Bearcats teams enter the month of October in conference play.
Football:
The Bearcats landed their first GLVC win of the season this past Saturday defeating the Lincoln Blue tigers. Southwest Baptist had a large homecoming crowd of over 2,000 people that cheered them to a 17-13 victory.
Regan Wilson scored the game winning touchdown for SBU with 1:48 left in the 3
rd quarter to go along with his game high 71 receiving yards.
Now they take an extended break from home games as they head on the road to take on Missouri S&T. The game will take place in Rolla, Missouri at Allgood-Bailey Stadium this Saturday at 6:00pm. SBU holds an overall 18-12 record over the Miners since 1986 but fell last year 19-45. The Miners enter this game with a 1-3 overall record and an 0-1 GLVC record.
The Bearcats enter this game as the best defense in the league averaging only 265 yards allowed per game and only 17 points allowed per game. This defensive prowess continues with the pass and run game being the 1
st and 2
nd best respectively. SBU has recorded 10 tackles for loss on the season which is 6
th best in the Nation, only two behind the first-place team.

Women's Soccer:
Southwest Baptist returns home after playing two top teams in the conference including the #13 ranked McKendree University. This past weekend sophomore
Annabelle Shuler recorded her second goal of the season. While SBU keeper
Cece Alexander recorder eight saves on Friday and sophomore keeper
Sydney King recorded a career high 12 saves.
SBU will begin the weekend hosting the 0-6-1 Lewis University Flyers on Friday at 4:00pm at the SBU soccer field. Lewis, who lost in the GLVC championships last season and picked to finish 4
th this year has struggled to get rolling in 2024. On the other side of the weekend is the Greyhounds from University of Indianapolis. They are 3-1-1 overall with 10 points tied for 4
th in the conference. That game will take place on Sunday at 12pm at the SBU soccer field.

Men's Soccer:
A pair of 0-1 losses against two top-3 teams in the conference showed the Bearcat men's soccer team can compete against anyone in the GLVC. They will look to take that mentality into this weekend of action as they look to get some points back on the board.
This weekend won't be any easier for SBU as they host the reigning Final Four team of Lewis University. They Flyers so far this season are 1-1-6, currently on a seven-game undefeated streak. The Bearcats will look to end that streak on Friday at 1:30pm at the SBU Soccer Field. Two days later they will play the only team in the GLVC to win every conference matchup thus far, Indianapolis Greyhounds. Sitting at 5-2 overall, they are 5-0 in GLVC play sitting atop the tables with 15 total points. SBU will battle with the Greyhounds at 2:30pm at the SBU soccer field on Sunday.

Women's Volleyball:
The SBU Bearcat women's volleyball team began conference this past weekend as they hosted Lewis University and University of Indianapolis. On Friday, they battled the Flyers to a close five game set but fell in set five 15-17. The next day SBU fell to the Greyhounds, but Junior
Ella Rademaker entered the SBU top-10 in kills recording her 797
th career kill.
Now they travel to St. Louis to take on the Saints of Maryville University on Friday at 6:00pm. Since joining the GLVC the Saints and Bearcats have had numerous tight matches with the Saints winning the last two. Maryville enters the weekend with a 6-6 overall record and a 1-1 GLVC record falling to Quincy and defeating Illinois-Springfield.

A day later the Bearcats will take on the Miners of Missouri S&T in Rolla, Missouri. This game will take place in Gibson Arena on Saturday at 3:00pm. The Bearcats are on a two-game win streak over the Miners defeating each year for the last two years. SBU's two game win streak can improve the three this weekend as the Miners are 2-10 on the season.
