Bolivar, Mo. – After a wild weekend at Southwest Baptist with 14 games happening in three days, two teams continue to play at home while the other four hit the road.
Women's Volleyball:
After hosting a successful volleyball invitational at home, the Bearcat women's volleyball team hit the road for a mid-week game before beginning conference play during the weekend.
On Tuesday, September 24
th the Bearcats travel to Newman University to take on the Jets. The game will take place at 4:00pm in Wichita, Kansas at Fugate Gymnasium. This is the second all-time meeting between these programs, with SBU winning the last match 3-0 a year ago.

The team will return home for their GLVC home opener on Friday of this week hosting Lewis University, this game will take place at 6:00pm. The Flyers are off to a solid start this season with a 7-5 record, one of their wins being against #24 ranked Regis University. On Saturday, the Bearcats will host the Greyhounds of University of Indianapolis at 3:00pm in the Meyer Wellness Center. They Greyhounds enter this weekend on a 9-game winning streak currently with a record of 10-2.

Football:
After opening GLVC play with a hard loss to the Peacocks from Upper Iowa, Southwest Baptist looks to get back in the win column with their third straight home game. This week is homecoming for the Bearcat family as the football team hosts GLVC newcomer Lincoln on Saturday at 1:00pm.
This past weekend the Bearcat defense started out in stellar fashion holding the Peacocks scoreless for the first 47 minutes of the game. This included a forced fumble by junior
Levi Korir on the 1-yard line as the QB was about to enter the endzone. Holding their opponents to only 18 points per game, the SBU defense is 3
rd best in the conference, including 2
nd best in rush defense.
Heading into week-4 of the year, the Bearcats and Blue Tigers each look for their first win in GLVC play. Lincoln enters with an 0-3 record overall and GLVC play with losses to Quincy, McKendree, and William Jewell. The last time these to battled was in 2018, where the Bearcats fell 13-28. Despite that loss the Bearcats hold a 9-2 record all-time over the Blue Tigers.

Women's Soccer:
The Bearcats hit the road for their first conference action this weekend as they head to Illinois. SBU women's soccer recorded their first point of GLVC play with a tie against UMSL behind the stellar goalkeeping of freshman
Cece Alexander. Behind her 20 total saves and one penalty kick save, Alexander earned her first GLVC Defensive Player of the Week award.
Alexander and the team start their week against University of Illinois Springfield on Friday at 5:00pm at Kiwanis Stadium. The team recorded a 2-2 at Springfield last year behind goals from returners
Tamerra Gantt and
Annabelle Shuler. The Prairie Stars are tied for 4
th in the conference with 7 points and a 2-0-1 record.

They continue on the road Sunday afternoon as they take on the GLVC best McKendree University with a perfect 3-0 start to conference play. The other Bearcats were picked to finish 2
nd in the conference after winning the conference tournament last season and seven straight NCAA tournaments. The SBU Bearcats have competed closely with this team over the last few years, falling by only one goal in four of the last five games.

Men's Soccer:
Currently tied for 6
th in the GLVC the SBU men's soccer team is off to one of their best starts in program history. So far, they have played against three of the top-8 teams in conference and now hit the road to play against two of top three teams in GLVC.
They begin their weekend on Friday as they take on the Prairie Stars of Illinois-Springfield at Kiwanis Stadium with a kickoff of 7:30pm. The Prairie Stars enter this game with a 2-0-1 record in conference, sitting 3
rd in the GLVC.

On Sunday, the SBU Bearcats continue their trip in Illinois to take on the 2
nd place team in the GLVC McKendree. The other Bearcats have an undefeated overall record of 5-0-1 and are currently Nationally ranked to go along with their 2-0-1 GLVC record.

Women's Cross Country:
The Bearcats took a week off and now head down to Fayetteville to compete in the Arkansas Chile Pepper Invitational. In their two meets so far, they have been in the top-3 as a team, including their last meet where they took 2
nd place just one point behind Division-I Missouri State. In those meets, senior
Olivia Littleton has been the star taking 3
rd out of 114 runners and 1
st out of 55 runners including numerous D-I runners, which earned her GLVC runner of the week award.
Now the team will race in the "Harter's Habanero" 5k at 11:10am on Saturday against 26 other teams, their biggest race of the season. This race will include mostly Division-I teams with the likes of LSU, Arkansas, and Texas.

Men's Cross Country:
After back-to-back week of competition, the men's cross country team took a week off before racing in the Arkansas Chile Pepper Invitational this weekend. The Bearcats took 5
th place in their home classic then ran for a solid 2
nd place at the Springfield Twilight. In the first race of the season senior
Trevor Maxville led all Bearcats finishing with a team best 21
st place. The following week he was 2
nd out of all Bearcats with sophomore Jack Leeds edging him out by six seconds.
Now the team will compete in the "Prairie Fire Pepper" 8k at 11:40am on Saturday against 29 other schools. This will be the biggest race of the year against over 200 runners. They will see many familiar faces including Evangel, College of the Ozarks, and State Fair all that they raced against this year.
