Springfield, Mo. – The SBU women's tennis team began postseason play Friday afternoon, as they took on McKendree University. Southwest Baptist took down their GLVC mascot counterpart as they won 4-1. That advances them to the GLVC tournament semifinals and moves them to 9-13 on the season.

Doubles point was no problem for Southwest Baptist as they won in both the #1 and #3 spots.
Paula Ballesteros and
Ghada Dirninger won their match 6-2 while
Elsa Pascual and
Giselle Garcia won in their match 6-3. They each won in fast enough time that the #2 spot did not need to finish their match.

Singles proved to be more difficult for SBU as Ballesteros battled hard in the #1 spot falling in the first set. She fought back though winning the next two sets 6-3 & 6-2, claiming point #2 for SBU.
Polina Paunova handled her business at the #4 spot taking down her opponent in two sets 6-4 in both. The SBU sole Senior on the team
Elsa Pascual was not ready for her season to be over as she clinched the final point for SBU after a 2 hour and 52-minute match. Her 3
rd set 7-5 victory advanced the women's tennis team to their 4
th straight GLVC semifinals.

The team will now match up against the #29 team in the Nation University of Indianapolis Greyhounds on the GLVC semifinals. The Greyhounds are the #1 seed from the East coming into this tournament. The match will take place at Cooper Tennis Complex at 12:00pm in Springfield, Missouri.
