Box Score Springfield, Mo. – The SBU men's tennis team began postseason play Friday morning, as they took on University of Illinois Springfield. The Bearcats completed a season sweep against the Prairie Stars as they won 4-2. That advances them to the GLVC tournament semifinals and moves them to 8-12 on the season.
 
It was a tight doubles point as it came down to the final pair of Alejandro Bravo Diaz and Bojan Radoman in the #3 spot. Youssef Nabil and Ilyes Khelifi claimed the first win in doubles at the #1 spot, winning 6-4. Bravo and Radoman were able to clinch the doubles point winning 7-5 putting SBU up 1-0.
 
The top Bearcats dominated at the #1 and #2 spots as Youssef Nabil and Alejandro Beneyto Sanchez each won their matches 6-4 & 6-1. Those two together gave SBU their 2^nd and 3^rd point, putting them 1 point away from victory.
 
After falling in the #3 and #4 spot, the final point came down to the Bearcats #5 & #6 spots. Fabian Neff and Bravo Diaz, each won their first set putting their team even closer to victory. The two continued to match each other as they led their opponent 5-2 in set two, and were each only one point away from match victory at the same time. Neff came up as the hero for SBU as he clinched the point winning 6-2 advancing the Bearcats.
 
The team will now match up against the #8 team in the Nation University of Indianapolis Greyhounds on the GLVC semifinals. The Greyhounds are the #1 seed from the East coming into this tournament with a record of 13-4. The match will take place at Cooper Tennis Complex at 9:00am in Springfield, Missouri.
