Box Score Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU baseball team returned hom Friday evening as they hosted the 17
th ranked Maryville University Saints. The Bearcats fell in the game 6-9 to move to 9-22 (6-11 GLVC).
The Bearcats struck first taking a 2-0 lead, until the Saints bounced back in the 4
th scoring four runs. Southwest Baptist kept making attempts at the comeback inching closer and closer, but every attempt was matched by Maryville until the end of the game.
Eli Smock recorded the loss moving to 1-6 on the season.
Junior
Zeke Skinner had a strong day going 2 of 3 at the batters plate, including his 7
th home run of the season. That puts him just four away from breaking the SBU career record in home runs.
Tre Mungin led the team in RBI's in game one, with two off of his two hits.
Cayden Shaver was the only other Bearcat, besides Skinner, to record an RBI off a sacrifice fly.
Southwest Baptist will return to play Saturday afternoon for another doubleheader against the Saints. The games will begin at 1:00pm at Dodson Field.
