Wichita, Kan. – The SBU track and field multi-event athletes finished their competition at Friends University this Friday afternoon.
Lily Simmons and
Paige Bradley both finished in the top-3 ending in the same spot from day 1. Simmons took 2
nd place throughout the whole heptathlon after three top five finishes today. Her top finishes came in the long jump and 800-meter where she finished in 3
rd. Bradley was right behind her in 3
rd place. She had a first place finish in the long jump with a distance of 5.49-meters. She also had a 2
nd place finish in the 800-meter.
Junior
Brayden Housh continued to excel in the decathlon as she leaped from 4
th to 1
st on day two. Out of the five events on the day he took 1
st place in three of them finishing with a score of 6282, 9 points off the school record in the decathlon. Housh won the discus, pole vault, and javelin as well as taking 4
th in the 110-meter hurdles and 6
th in the 1500-meter run. His teammate
Andrew Rhoades finished not far behind him in 3
rd place. The freshman entered day two in 2
nd place and took top places of 1
st place in the 1500-meter and 4
th in the pole vault on the day.
Many other Bearcats will compete Saturday, April 6
th down south at the Arkansas Spring Invite. This will take place in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
