Box Score 2 Quincy, Ill. – The SBU women's tennis team finished their regular season Friday and Saturday afternoon as they finished the season on a winning streak. The Bearcats ended conference play winning their final two games finishing the season 8-13 (4-1 GLVC) on the season.
The Bearcats started the weekend defeating the Quincy Hawks 4-2. They swept the doubles point winning in all three spots, with
Leticia Luiz and
Polina Paunova winning by the biggest margin 6-2.
Ghada Dirninger and
Elsa Pascual secured the next two SBU points winning in the #2 and #3 spots respectively, each in the third sets. It was
Giselle Garcia who clinched the win for the Bearcats winning 6-2, 6-1 in the #6 spots.
It was pure domination from Southwest Baptist against Truman State winning easily 7-0. Even in the doubles point the Bearcats swept all three spots with
Elsa Pascual and
Ghada Dirninger winning 6-0 in the #1 spot. The Bearcats won all six singles matches in only two sets. Garcia continued to dominate not dropping a single set at the #6 spot winning 6-0 and 6-0.
Polina Paunova also won without dropping a set at the #4 spot winning 6-0 & 6-0.
The Men's tennis team will now compete in the GLVC conference tournament next weekend May 3-5. The matches will take place in Springfield, Missouri at the Cooper Tennis Complex.
