Warrensburg, Mo. – The SBU women's track and field team returned to action as they competed at the UCM Mule Relays Friday.
Two Bearcats finished in 3
rd place on the day.
Savannah Manthey continued her prowess in the javelin throw as she took 3
rd place out of 34 different competitors. Senior
Mercy Dement had an incredible performance in the 10,000-meter run finishing in 3
rd place, running a time of 41:08.73 a personal record.
Brianna Lord also had a solid day taking 4
th place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.13. She also qualified for the finals of the 200-meter dash but did not compete in the finals. Lily Simmons took 5
th place in the high jump with a mark of 1.58.
Senior
Lainy Williams was one of the three Bearcats to compete in California at the Brian Clay Invitationals. She ran in the 800-meter invite against some of the top runners in the country both Division I and Division II. Her time of 2:10.30 was a National mark, though it did not top her prior time this year of 2:08.27.
Southwest Baptist will continue next week as they compete at Emporia State in the Midwest Classic. This will be one last practice for the Bearcats as two weeks later, they will be at the GLVC Championships.
