Box Score Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU women's tennis team continued conference play Saturday afternoon as they hosted the Hawks from Rockhurst University. The Bearcats top spots clipped the Hawks giving clinching victory early in the match with a 5-2 final score. This moves them to 6-11 (2-0 GLVC) on the season.
Southwest Baptist dominated the doubles point winning all three matches.
Ghada Dirninger and
Paula Ballesteros won at the #1 spot 6-2.
Leticia Luiz and
Polina Paunova won in the #2 spot 7-5, while
Elsa Pascual and Ghada Dininring won 6-2 at the #3 spot.
The Bearcats clinched in the win in just the first three singles matches as they won at the #1, #2, and #3 spot. Ballesteros had the biggest win as she defeated the #10 player in the Nation defeating her in the third set 7-6. Both Dirninger and Pascual also won their points in third set as they clinched the victory 4-0.
Giselle Garcia added a 5
th point to the Bearcats total winning at the #6 spot 6-4 & 6-3.
The Bearcats will take a break from conference play as they host the William Woods Eagles next week. The match will take place on Friday April, 19
th at 12:00pm on the John Bryant Tennis Courts.
