Box Score Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU men's tennis team continued conference play Saturday afternoon as they hosted the Hawks from Rockhurst University. It was a battle between the two regional opponents, but the Bearcats came out on top winning 4-3. That moves them to 6-11 (2-0 GLVC) on the season.
In the battle for the doubles point, the Bearcats came out on top winning two out of the three matches. Alejandro Brado Diaz and
Bojan Radoman swept past their opponents winning 6-0 in stellar fashion. Then it was the ranked duo of Youssef and
Ilyes Khelifi clinched the point for SBU winning 6-3 in the #1 spot.
Youssef Nabil won the the first point in singles for Southwest Baptist as he defeated the Nations #46 ranked singles at the #1 spot. Nabil dominated the first set winning 6-1, then narrowly clinched the point in the second set winning 7-6.
Alejandro Beneyto Sanchez put the Bearcats within clinching point after winning at the #2 spot. Him and his opponent split the first two sets, but Beneyto Sanchez controlled the third set winning 6-1. The match came down to
Fabian Neff in the #6 spot where he won in two sets bringing SBU their second conference win.
The Bearcats will take a break from conference play as they host the William Woods Eagles next week. The match will take place on Friday April, 19
th at 12:00pm on the John Bryant Tennis Courts.
