Box Score 2 Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU Baseball team was back in action as they continued their series in a doubleheader matchup against the UMSL Tritons. The Bearcats split the day as they came back in the first game to take the win but lost the second to make them 10-27 (7-16 GLVC) on the season.
In game 1, Roberto Garcia started on the mound for SBU as he pitched for 3.2 innings with a new career-high in strikeouts with four. Cody Gibson would then come in before Sam Peterson took the mound to pitch for the last 2.1 innings to help secure the Bearcats win.
The Bearcats started slow as it was all Triton ball in the first few innings. It was not until the bottom of the 3rd, when the Bearcats finally found their rhythm as Raydley Legito hit a single for an RBI to kick things off. The Bearcats were just one run down before Dean Hagenhoff hit a double for 3 RBIs for the first Bearcat lead of the day, 7-5. The Tritons would tie it up in the 4th, however, before Ayden Fetters ran home after a wild pitch from the Tritons pitcher for the 8-7 win.
Southwest Baptist will finish their series against the UMSL Tritons, tomorrow at 12:00 PM at Dodson Field.
