Box Score 2 Grand Rapids, Mich. – The SBU men's tennis team continued their trip in Michigan Thursday as they took on two more opponents. They split the day moving to 4-9 on the season.
In game one, the Bearcats took on #38 ranked Tiffin University in the morning and fell 1-4. The Bearcats sole point came from
Alejandro Beneyto Sanchez who won his first set 6-2, this his opponent retired. Youseff Nabil and
Ilyes Khelifi had a 6-5 lead in doubles at the #1 spot, before the game was declared finished due to Tiffin already clinching the doubles point.
It was a battle of the cats in game two as SBU took on Davenport University to claim a 4-3 victory. The Doubles point went to the Panthers despite Beneyto and Radoman dominated their opponents 6-0. Beneyto continued to show dominance on the day as he won in the #2 spot 6-0 & 6-2 for SBU's first point. Shortly after
Fabian Neff won his point from retirement. At the #3 spot,
Bojan Radoman put the Bearcats one point away from the win after taking down his opponent 6-1 & 7-5. It was
Pedro Pinto who clinched victory for SBU as he won in the third set 6-2.
Southwest Baptist will conclude their Michigan trip tomorrow as they take on Grand Valley State University in Allendale. Game time is scheduled to begin at 11:00am CST.
