Maryville, Mo. – The SBU women's track and field completed their trip to Northwest Missouri today in style. Numerous members on the team claimed a National mark after a great day at the Bearcat Open.
The women's 4x400 claimed highlight on the day hitting a National mark and being only .60 seconds off a school record. The team comprised of
Brianna Lord,
Madison Hicks,
Laura Dixon, and
Collinique Farrington competed for the first time together and ran a time of 3:43.85, currently top five in the Nation. Another Bearcat claimed a personal best and national mark in senior
Lainy Williams. She ran an impressive 2:10.68 in the 800-meter, currently 5
th in the Nation and only .18 seconds off a school record.
Sophomore
Emily Young hit a personal best in the pole vault with a mark of 2.67, 7
th best in SBU history. Freshmen
Lily Hunsucker and
Sami Portman each ran a personal best in the mile taking 5
th and 24
th respectively. Three other Bearcats also hit personal bests on the day in
Sierra Wallace (400-meter),
Olivia Littleton (3k), and
Paige Saville (800-meter).
The team will now travel to Pittsburg, KS next weekend as they compete in the Gorilla Classic starting on Friday. This will be the last event before the Bearcats travel to Indianapolis, IN to compete in the GLVC Championships.
