Box Score Springfield, Mo. – The SBU men's tennis team returned to action today as they battle the Illinois-Springfield Prairie Stars. The Bearcats continued their dominance against Illinois-Springfield as they won 5-2, moving to 2-2 on the season.
It only took Alejandro Beneyto and
Pedro Pinto 27 minutes to down their opponents in the #2 spot in doubles. With the teams even at 1 win a piece,
Youssef Nabil and
Ilyes Khelifi came up clutch remaining undefeated on the season winning in the #1 spot 7-5, giving SBU the doubles point.
Sophomore Beneyto started out singles strong defeating his opponents in only two games 6-4, 6-2 giving SBU their second point. Soon after
Youssef Nabil won his match at the #2 spot 6-1, 7-5 giving the Bearcats their third point.
Fabian Neff and
Pedro Pinto secured the 4
th and 5
th point for SBU in the #4 and #5 spot respectively.
Southwest Baptist will return to action this Saturday as they battle one of the top Division III programs in the country, Washington University in St. Louis. The Bears are currently ranked 9
th in Division III. This match will take place in St. Louis with a scheduled start time of 6:30pm.
