Bolivar, Mo. – SBU head track and field coach Corey McElhaney won the SBU Staff Life Beautiful Award as announced yesterday at chapel. Established in 1992, the Staff Life Beautiful award is given annually to a staff member who exemplifies Christ-like behavior with others. Engages actively in their church and community, continually strives to improve the quality of their work, and demonstrates sincere willingness to serve others through their roles at SBU.
 
Coach McElhaney is in his 17^th season as a coach at SBU, during that time he has coached more than 50 All-Americans and two National Champions. He has led the Bearcats to one GLVC Championship, four MIAA Championships, six NCAA team qualifications, and more than 50 individual conference titles. He was also named the MIAA Coach of the Year four times, including GLVC coach of the year in 2020.

Corey is married to Christine and they are proud parents of daughter Carlee and son Casen. They attend First Baptist in Bolivar, where they lead a Core Group and help run summer vacation Bible school.
 
McElhaney and the indoor Bearcat track and field team will have a weekend off then head to Indianapolis, Indiana where they will compete for a conference title.
