Box Score Oklahoma City, Okla. – The SBU women's tennis team returned to action this afternoon as they took on former MIAA foe Northeastern State University. The Bearcats fell to the Riverhawks in a one-point match, 3-4. They move to 0-2 on the season.
In fighting for the doubles point, the Bearcats fell behind early but clawed back to win that point. In the #1 spot,
Ghada Dirninger and
Elsa Pascual won their game 6-3. Then
Paula Ballesteros and
Leticia Luiz clinched the point with a 7-6 tie breaking win in the #3 spot.
Ballesteros continued to remain undefeated on the day and at the #1 spot on the season dominating her opponent 6-1 in each set. Fellow teammate
Ghada Dirninger added the third point to the Bearcats total by defeating her opponent in a two hour game. At the #2 spot, she won 6-2, 5-7, & 6-1 winning her first solo match of the season.
The Bearcats will have their home opener on Thursday as they host conference foe Illinois-Springfield. This game will take place in Springfield, Missouri at the Cooper Tennis Complex at 10:30am.
