12/7/2024 10:48:00 PM

Pittsburg, Kan. – The SBU women's track and field team began their season Saturday at the Crimson and Gold Invitational. Many strong marks were highlight by a new NCAA Division II record.

Collinique Farrington began her season by completing something she hasn't even done in her incredible Bearcat career. Farrington set a new NCAA Division II record in the 300-meter dash with a time of 37.64 seconds. This was good enough for 1st place with her fellow teammate Stephanique Dean finishing in second place one second behind her. They both also finished right next to each other in the 60-meter dash. They both hit National qualifying marks with times of 7.59 seconds.

Other to results for the Bearcat ladies include Laura Dixon who finished 5th in the 200-meter dash only .41 seconds away from a provisional mark. As well, Paige Franks had a good start to her season finishing 16th in the women's mile. Her time of 5:21 was only 26 seconds off a National mark as well.

The Bearcats will take the next few weeks off for Christmas break before competing at the Washburn Rust Buster on Friday, January 17th.
