Pittsburg, Kan. – The SBU women's track and field team began their season Saturday at the Crimson and Gold Invitational. Many strong marks were highlight by a new NCAA Division II record.
Collinique Farrington began her season by completing something she hasn't even done in her incredible Bearcat career. Farrington set a new NCAA Division II record in the 300-meter dash with a time of 37.64 seconds. This was good enough for 1
st place with her fellow teammate
Stephanique Dean finishing in second place one second behind her. They both also finished right next to each other in the 60-meter dash. They both hit National qualifying marks with times of 7.59 seconds.
Other to results for the Bearcat ladies include
Laura Dixon who finished 5
th in the 200-meter dash only .41 seconds away from a provisional mark. As well,
Paige Franks had a good start to her season finishing 16
th in the women's mile. Her time of 5:21 was only 26 seconds off a National mark as well.
The Bearcats will take the next few weeks off for Christmas break before competing at the Washburn Rust Buster on Friday, January 17
th.
