Box Score Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU women's basketball team got to play in front of the Bolivar primary, intermediate, and middle schools Wednesday afternoon as they took on Oklahoma Wesleyan. The Bearcats fell to the Eagles 60-67, moving to 4-6 on the season.
For a game that had nine lead changes and 11 ties, the Bearcats led for most of the game until the 4
th quarter. The Eagles got hot from the field and shot 64% in the 4
th quarter and the Bearcats fell cold, shooting 33%.
Tori Hamilton nearly notched another double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds.
Bianca Oliver also tagged along a season high 12 points shooting 71% from the floor.
The atmosphere was electric throughout the game as the lady Bearcats got to play in front of the Bolivar primary, intermediate, and middle school classes. Nearly 400 kids were attendance and brought intense cheering the moment of their arrival. Their chants of "SBU" for two minutes straight could be heard across the Wellness Center.
It was a great opportunity for the Bearcats to give back to the Bolivar community and spread positivity heading into the Holidays. These students not only got to cheer on the lady Bearcats but also got to participate in many games including airplane throwing, bat spinning competitions, and got dance with the cha-cha slide. A few lucky fans were able to take home a SBU Bearcat t-shirt with periodical tosses throughout the game.
These games and many other activities will continue to happen at Bearcat basketball games throughout the rest of the season! The women's basketball team will be back in action in the Meyer Center January 16
th as they host the Illinois-Springfield Prairie Stars. Tip off for that game is scheduled for 5:30pm.
