Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU Women's Basketball team was back in action today as they looked for a season sweep against the Quincy Hawks this afternoon. The Bearcats started off strong in the first half, but it would not be enough as the Hawks made a comeback to win the game 64-72, making the Bearcats 8-11 (4-9 GLVC) on the season.
The Bearcats were led by junior Claudia Vanzant who had herself a game as she recorded her second double-double of the season. Vanzant went 6-9 from the field for a season high 19 points to go with her 10 rebounds. Behind her was senior Karlee Holland who recorded 13 points along with 3 rebounds for SBU. Junior Bianca Oliver would also contribute to the Bearcats as she put up 9 points and 2 rebounds. Senior Kallyn Stumbo was 2 points short of her third double-double of the season. Stumbo finished the game with 8 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals.
Southwest Baptist will look to regroup as they have an extended week before hosting the Drury University Panthers in the Hwy 13 Rivalry. The Bearcats upset the Panthers in the first meeting of the year, when Drury was ranked 12th in the Nation. Tip-off is set for 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 3rd, at the Meyer Wellness Center.
