Joplin, Mo. - The SBU volleyball team finished the Missouri Southern Invite this evening with two games, one against Northwest Oklahoma State and the other against the host Missouri Southern. The Bearcats split the day moving to 3-1 on the season.
Game 1 SBU vs Northwest Oklahoma: Win, 3-0
Bearcats earned their second sweep of the season by downing the Rangers from Northwest Oklahoma. They outscored their opponents by 19 points. For the third time this season, sophomore Ella Rademaker led the entire team in kills, this time with 17 giving her 50 in just three games. She had an impressive .371 hitting percentage with those 17 kills. Freshman Chadler Lawrence had a career high in kills with five for an impressive .444 hitting percentage. Sophomores Bailey Lasater and Katie Pogue shared in the sharing combining for 37 total assists. Junior Paityn Kramer had a career high in aces with five.
Game 2 SBU vs Missouri Southern: Loss, 0-3
Southwest Baptist suffered their first loss of the season against the host Lions, who are currently undefeated on the season only dropping one set. Rademaker and junior Sydney McNeill led the team in kills with 11 and 10 respectively. Lawrence continued her impressive day by getting 3 solo blocks and 2 assisted blocks.
The Bearcats will return to action this coming Tuesday as they travel to Baker University. Match time is scheduled for 6 PM in Baldwin City, Kansas.
