Bolivar, Mo. - The SBU women's cross-country team opened their season this evening in the annual Bearcat invite. Despite two of their top runners not competing today, the 29th ranked team in the Nation took 2nd place with 77 points, only behind Missouri Southern who is ranked 9th in the South Region.
The Bearcats were led by senior Alexis Barber who finished 5th with a time of 18:40.72. She was followed by freshman Lily Hunsucker who finished in 13th place with a time of 19:17.34. In 18th and 21st place came junior Olivia Littleton and freshman Kiersten Potter. Rounding out the scoring for the Bearcats was sophomore Ellie Kitchen taking 23rd place
Southwest Baptist women's cross country will be back in action in two weeks as they travel down south to Joplin, Missouri for the MSSU Stampede. The National Championships will be held at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course giving good experience to the Bearcats.
