Bearcats Assistant Football Coach, Tyler Curts, Announced as MSHOF Elite 11 Recipient

Bolivar, Mo. - The Missouri Sports Hall of Fame (MSHOF) announced SBU assistant football coach Tyler Curts to the MSHOF Football Elite Eleven. The former Bearcat linebacker and current co-defensive coordinator was won this award for making a positive impact on the game in both high school and in college. Curts will be given this award at the Hall of Fame luncheon on October 18th. 

"Being inducted into the Elite Eleven and receiving this award from the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame is a true honor, as it not only recognizes my dedication and commitment to the game I love, but also my deep connection to Southwest Baptist University." Curts said, "This institution has been more than a university to me; it's a place where I've grown in my walk with Christ, met my wife, honed my skills, forged lifelong friendships, and learned invaluable life lessons. This recognition is a testament to the unwavering support of my SBU family and the enduring values it instills in me today. Thank you, Bearcat Family, for always believing in me and as always...ROLL CATS!! 

The 2018 SBU graduate appeared in 44 total games in the Bearcat uniform making it in the record books in multiple categories. He is 2nd all-time in SBU history in total tackles with 383, only six shy of the record. 183 of those tackles were unassisted and 200 were assisted, each also being 2nd in the record books.  

"This is great recognition for a great man." Head Coach Robert Clardy said, "Curts has been a valuable asset to our program as a player and as a coach. His accomplishments on and off the field have impacted so many lives and will continue to through his passion for the game."
