Bolivar, Mo. - The SBU softball team closed out their 2023 campaign at home this past weekend honoring seniors and alumni. They hosted Quincy University on Saturday and Illinois-Springfield on Sunday, falling in all four games. The team finished off the season with a record of 11-39 (4-20 GLVC).
On Saturday, softball recognized and honored their three alumni
Renae Gillmore,
Izabella Anderson, and
Emma Wood. Gillmore finished her playing career last season, but returned to the Bearcat dugout for one more go around as the graduate assistant. She will graduate this May with a master's in business administration. Anderson capped off a three-year career as a Bearcat playing in 42 total games. She will graduate this upcoming December with a degree in exercise science with plans to enter the Doctor of Physical Therapy school at SBU. Wood threw out the first pitch and her final pitch as a Bearcat on Saturday afternoon finishing a great four-year career. She will graduate in a few weeks with her bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and plans to enter the DPT program here at SBU.
On Sunday, the Bearcats were able to honor the many great alumni who had been a member of the SBU softball program. Six of these alumni were present at the games and were recognized in between the doubleheader. These include Sam Moran (2020), Nicole Breedlove (2021), Hunter Hisky (2019),
Kaitlyn Bagby (2022),
Renae Gillmore (2023), and
Alissa Collette (2023).
