Pittsburg, KS. – The SBU women's track and field team competed at the 15th Annual David Suenram Gorilla Classic. Numerous Bearcats competed in the event, with a few getting a top-10 finish.

Juniors Lainy Williams and Alexis Barber highlighted the meet for the Bearcats by dominating the 800-meter run. They each defeated 28 other runners taking the top-2 places. Williams took first with a time of 2:12.21, which was also a National Provisional Mark. Barber finished just a second behind her in 2nd place with a time of 2:13.41.

Both Williams and Barber returned for the last event of the meet to compete in the women's 4X400 meter relay. They teamed up with Madison Hicks and Reagan Thormure taking 3rd place out of 11 teams. This group competed together for the first-time last week at the SBU invitational and improved upon their time from the week prior. Other notable finishes include Lily Simmons taking 8th in the high jump and Ellie Kitchin taking 6th in the 3000-meter steeplechase.

The Bearcats will return to action next week as they compete at the Central Missouri Mule Relays.
