Box Score 3 Liberty, Mo. - The SBU women's tennis team looked to continue their six-game winning streak this weekend as they took on two conference opponents and one MIAA opponent. The Bearcats won all three matches extending their winning streak to nine and moving to 12-8 (6-0 GLVC) on the season.
Game 1: Friday vs Rockhurst, 6-1 Win
The Bearcats started out the match winning in doubles 1 and 2, to claim the doubles point. In singles,
Paula Ballesteros and
Ghada Dirninger quickly picked up two more points for SBU winning in two sets in the 1 and 3 spots.
Elsa Pascual,
Lola Cincunegui, and
Leticia Luiz each won their match in three sets in the 2, 5, and 6 spot respectively.
Game 2: Saturday vs William Jewell, 7-0 Win
It was nothing but domination for the Bearcats in their second game of the weekend as they won every single point.
Giselle Garcia and Paula Paunova swept their doubles opponent 6-0. In singles, each bearcat won their game in only two sets.
Game 3: Saturday vs Fort Hays, 4-0
The Bearcats completed their second straight sweep continuing their nine-game win streak. In doubles, Dirninger/Pascual and Ballesteros/Cincunegui each won their doubles point in the 1 and 2 spot respectively. In the one spot, Ballesteros won her match 6-1 & 6-1 giving SBU their second point. Cincunegui and Garcia wrapped up the win for SBU winning in the 4 spot and 6 spot respectively.
The Bearcats will continue play this Thursday as they travel to William Woods University for a non-conference match against the Owls. Match is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM.
