Indianapolis, Indiana. – The SBU women's tennis team opened postseason play today as they competed in the quarterfinals of the GLVC tournament. The Bearcats took on Illinois-Springfield and handled them with ease winning the match 4-0. They move to 14-9 on the season.
 
The Bearcats opened winning the doubles point in an easy 2-0 fashion. Ghada Dirninger and Elsa Pascual defeated their opponents 6-4 in the #1 spot. Paula Ballesteros and Lola Cincunegui clinched the point for SBU in the #2 spot winning 6-2.
 
In singles, Ballesteros and Dirninger handled their opponents with ease winning the point in only two sets. Pascual was battle tested but clinched the match for SBU winning the third set 6-1.
 
The Bearcats will continue conference tournament play tomorrow as they compete in the semifinals. They will battle #9 Nationally ranked University of Indianapolis for the second time this season. Their first meeting this season was the first game of the season for the Bearcats. Despite competing hard, they fell 2-5 to the Greyhounds. The semifinal matchup is scheduled for Saturday, April 22^nd at 8:00 AM CST.
