One standout performer for the Bearcats this season has been Sophomore
Paula Ballesteros. She has been in the #1 spot in singles going 15-5 and having a winning 2-1 record over ranked opponents. She has been impressive all season, but even more so lately winning seven out of her last 10. Earlier this season, she defeated SBU's previous #1

"We knew there was something special about her ever since her first ITA Regionals when she made it to the quarterfinals." Head Coach Joao Almeida said, "This year she has been even better than we imagined she would've been by her second season. She is very focused in practice, incredibly talented, and strong mentally. We are very proud of Paula and the leader she has become in our team. There is much more to come for this girl, she has just started."
