Azusa, California – The SBU women's track and field team had two athletes compete in the prestigious Bryan Clay Invitational and a few more compete in the UCM Mule Relays today.
Juniors
Lainy Williams and
Alexis Barber each received invites to compete in the Bryan Clay 800-meter run. Barber competed in the 800-meter open and took 28
th place out of 144 competitors. Williams competed in the 800-meter invite with 128 other competitors. Her time of 2:12.10 was another National qualifying time beating her previous time.
At the UCM Mule Relays the Bearcat ladies took 5
th place against 29 other schools.
Raquel Valdez took 4
th place in the women's discus by smashing her previous SBU best throw by five meters. Lily Simmons took 3
rd place in the high jump with a mark of 1.61 meters. Junior
Madison Hicks fell just shy of the top spot in the 400-meter dash taking 2
nd place by .02 seconds.
Brocklyn Barber took 4
th place in 800-meter, with
Tessa Valdivia and
Anna Bandy placing in the 5,000-meter in 2
nd and 5
th place respectively.
The Bearcats will compete in one more meet before the GLVC Championships next weekend. They will get a practice run at Missouri S&T, the GLVC Championship site, at the S&T Quadrangular next Saturday, April 22
