Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU softball team hosted the McKendree Bearcats this afternoon. McKendree came into the doubleheader as one of the top teams in conference with an overall record of 22-9. Southwest fell in game one of the day, but their bats exploded in game 2 upsetting McKendree 9-6.
"It was so much fun to see this team play at the level we knew we were capable of." Head Coach

Emma Vincent opened the scoring for SBU in the bottom of the third with a two-run blast over the left field wall, her first homerun of the season. Vincent added two more runs in the 4
th inning with a rocket up the middle giving her four RBIs in the game. In the same inning
Chloee Sams matched Vincent's RBI total with one swing hitting a grand slam. Her fourth home run of the season was also the Bearcats first grand slam since March 9
th, 2018. For the first time since 2012, two Bearcats each recorded four RBIs in the same game.
Freshman
Jenna Daggett started on the mound pitching four strong innings striking out three batters and picking up the win. This was her sixth win of the season, most by a Bearcat since 2018. The final RBI in the game came from sophomore
Margo Frossard as she recorded her 13
th double of the season. Frossard is only three doubles short of breaking the SBU single season record. As a team, SBU recorded 14 hits the most in a single game since April 15
th, 2019.
Southwest Baptist will return return to action tomorrow afternoon as they take on Maryville University. They will host the Saints at the SBU softball field starting at 12:00 PM.
