Belton, TX. – The SBU Beach volleyball time had their first program road trip this weekend as they traveled to University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Down in Texas, the Bearcats had five matches winning three of them. They move to 6-7 on the season.
 
"The team competed very well this weekend and I am please overall. Many of our pairs made some great improvements and things began to click more." Head Coach Morgan Goodman said, "For being a brand-new program and with our girls only being in the sand roughly two months, they are meeting my expectations and even exceeding them! I am excited for more growth and the rest of the season!"
 
Game 1 vs Oklahoma Wesleyan: Win, 3-2
The Bearcats kicked off this match in a strong fashion winning the first two matches. Julia Becker & Carlee Lill picked up a win in the #5 spot dominating with a 21-10, 21-15 victory. In the #4 spot, Janel Pido and Loran Pritchett defeated their opponents 21-14, 21-8 their first time playing together. Katie Pogue & Gabrielle Belcher clinched the win for SBU in the #2 spot 24-22, 17-21, 15-6.
 
Game 2 vs East Texas Baptist: Win, 5-0
SBU continued dominated into the second match of the day completing their third sweep of the season. Bailey Laster/Azalea Clendenning, Pogue/Belcher, Pido/Pritchett, and Madison Satterly/Paityn Kramer duos all won their matches in two sets. The Becker/Lill combo battled with their opponents taking the victory in the third set 15-13.
 
Game 3 vs Louisiana-Monroe: L, 1-4
The Bearcats battled one of the top teams in the Nation who came into the match a perfect 9-0, with seven of those coming as 5-0 sweeps. The powerful duo of Lasater and Clendenning handed ULM only their fourth match loss of the season defeating their opponents 21-19, 21-18 in the #1 spot.
 
Game 4 vs Mary Hardin-Baylor: W, 3-2
Heading into Saturday's 1^st match of the day the Bearcats took on the host. They got off to a slow start only winning one of the first three matches, which came from the Satterly/Kramer combo winning in three sets. The Pogue/Belcher and Lasater/Clendenning duos dominated their opponents in the winning each match in two sets.
 
Game 5 vs Hendrix College: L, 2-3
In the final game of the tournament, Southwest Baptist took on Hendrix College for the second time this season. Just as the first game went, Bearcats fell by only one match. Becker/Lill duo won their match in the #5 spot 21-16, 21-18. Lasater/Clendenning continued their dominance with a 21-14, 21-19 victory, winning every match of the weekend.
