Columbia, Mo. – The SBU softball team traveled to Stephens College this afternoon for a doubleheader against the Stars. The Bearcats split the trip going 1-1 to move to 6-16 on the season.
Game 1: Win, 5-0
Sophomore
Jenna Daggett pitched a shutout going all seven innings only allowing six hits along with seven strikeouts. She is the first SBU pitcher to throw two shutouts in a season since 2018. The game remained scoreless until the top of the 6
th where the Bearcats got on a roll scoring five straight runs. It all started with a
Margo Frossard doubled, who was batted in by a
Chloee Sams double.
Shalie Wooden,
Emma Vincent, and
Alyssa Reed each added to the Bearcats lead with more RBI's.
Game 2: Loss, 4-5 (8 Innings)
Despite falling in extra innings, it was a history type game for sophomore
Margo Frossard. She became the first player in SBU softball history to hit the cycle. Frossard recorded a single in the 1
st, then knocked in a runner with a triple in the second, scored a solo home run in the 5
th, and finished the cycle out with a double in the 7
th.
The Bearcats will return to action on Tuesday, March 14th as they host the Oklahoma Baptist Bison for a doubleheader. The game will take place at the SBU softball field with a scheduled start time of 5:00 PM.
